The Head Set - Tell Her Twice
Mixing the guitar fury of 1982's finest post-punk moments with a modern garage aesthetic, The Head Set lights a rock & roll fire that burns white hot. How 1982 are they? They have a frickin' song called "1982," ok? Never mind that these four NYC guys were barely out of diapers that year, at the peak of the post-punk movement recently embraced by the likes of Interpol. When the opening bass notes of "I Found Out" rumble in, you'll swear you're listening to Joy Division; within seconds, the full band kicks in and all of a sudden they're channeling Gang Of Four. By the time the song is over, they've made it all their own. This seven-song EP is an inspiring burst of energy.
YEAH YEAH YEAH, 2003
